Daniel Midgley is a linguist, author, and science communicator.

He’s a presenter on the Because Language podcast, along with co-presenters Ben Ainslie and Hedvig Skirgård.

He can be also heard talking about language every week on the Speakeasy on ABC Radio Perth, and on the Polish a Word segment on ABC Radio Adelaide.

Formerly, Daniel presented the Talk the Talk podcast, which aired on RTRFM 92.1, a community radio station in Perth, Australia.

Even though he insists that linguists do not simply go around learning languages, Daniel has studied Spanish, French, Russian, and a bit of Japanese. He would like to be more fluent in any of them. He also uses Java and Perl.

Daniel has taught linguistics at the University of Western Australia and at Edith Cowan University.
